Personal Health & Well-Being
Supporting physical and mental well-being is essential to healthy aging. At Solus Support Services, we help older adults stay active, engaged, and confident by incorporating safe, enjoyable activities into their daily routines—whether at home or in the community.
Our PSWs tailor activities to each person’s interests, abilities, and comfort level, ensuring that movement and stimulation become positive and meaningful parts of their day.
Benefits Of Physical Activity
Regular physical activity can offer significant benefits for seniors, helping to improve both physical health and emotional well-being. Staying active can:
- Reduce the risk of chronic diseases
- Help manage high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and high cholesterol
- Improve mobility and independence for individuals with arthritis or respiratory conditions
- Reduce feelings of depression and anxiety
- Improve balance and coordination, supporting fall prevention
- Boost confidence and overall quality of life
Whether it’s walking, stretching, dancing, light exercise, or participating in community programs, our goal is to make physical activity safe, enjoyable, and tailored to each person’s needs.
During your care planning meeting, our Care Coordinator will discuss the types of activities you enjoy and what feels safe and comfortable for you.
We encourage and support you or your family member to take part in simple, healthy activities, which may include something as basic as walking or dancing. Of course, participation in any activity will depend on the customer’s choice and abilities. Our Coordinator will discuss your preferences with you as part of your care and support plan.
Cognitive Stimulation
Mental engagement is just as important as physical well-being. Cognitive activities help keep the mind active, support memory, and promote emotional connection.
Our PSWs can support individuals with a variety of stimulating and enjoyable activities, including:
- Crossword puzzles and word games
- Card games, board games, and Sudoku
- Reading, conversation, and storytelling
- Reminiscing and looking through photo albums
- Creative activities like drawing or crafting
A little encouragement or a caring partner can make these activities feel fun and achievable. We build time for cognitive stimulation into your personalized care plan, helping each day feel meaningful, engaging, and enjoyable.
